Zn PCA and it’s benifits

What is Zinc PCA?

Zinc PCA is the Zinc salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid. It helps control acne and decrease sebum secretion while helping the skin retain its humidity.Zinc Pyrrolidone Carboxylate Zinc PCA (PCA-Zn) is a zinc ion in which sodium ions are exchanged for bacteriostatic action, while providing moisturizing action and excellent bacteriostatic properties to the skin.

A large number of scientific studies have shown that zinc can reduce the excessive secretion of sebum by inhibiting 5-a reductase. The zinc supplementation of the skin helps to maintain the normal metabolism of the skin, because the synthesis of DNA, cell division, protein synthesis and the activity of various enzymes in human tissues are inseparable from zinc.

At Skin Actives we decided to offer zinc as zinc PCA. Pyrrolidone carboxylic acid, PCA, also called L-pyroglutamate, is a derivative of glutamic acid (an amino acid) and very hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs large quantities of water. A relatively simple molecule, it is naturally produced by our bodies and is one of the components of “natural moisturizing factor”, which our skin produces to slow down water loss to the environment.

Zinc-PCA offers the benefits of PCA and those of the zinc and, maybe, something more. For example, zinc PCA (but not zinc alone) seems to decrease sebum secretion by oily skin.

Benifits of Zn PCA

1. Zinc PCA regulating sebum production: It inhibits the release of 5α- reductase effectively and regulates   sebum production.

2. Zinc PCA suppresses propionibacterium acnes. lipase and oxidation. so it decreases stimulation; reduces inflammation and prevents acne production. which makes it multiple conditioning effect of suppressing free acid. avoiding inflammation and regulating oil levels Zinc PCA  is widely touted as a standout skincare ingredient that effectively addresses issues such as dull appearance, wrinkles, pimples, blackheads.

3. Give hair and skin a soft, smooth and fresh feeling.Zn-PCA-6

How does Zinc PCA help to control acne?

Zinc PCA is that miracle ingredient for managing your acne prone skin!

Zinc PCA is the synergy of two components - Zinc and PCA (Pyrrolidone carboxylic acid).
PCA is a derivative of an amino acid which is a  major component of NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor). The role of NMFs is to maintain adequate hydration in the stratum corneum layer by preventing transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

Numerous research studies have suggested that Zinc PCA helps to control sebum production, limits bacterial proliferation, and relieves skin inflammation. Zinc PCA ranks at the top when it comes to care for sensitive and acne-prone skin. It is among very few ingredients that offer gentle effects on sensitive skin while still being very effective in skin conditions such as acne and rosacea. Scientists have proven it to be a successful topical treatment and is widely used in face wash and anti-dandruff formulations to regulate sebum levels.

1. Kills acne causing bacteria

Acne is caused by bacteria which further trigger inflammation and infection leading to pustule or papule

Zinc PCA due to its antibacterial properties limits the proliferation of acne-causing bacteria in the skin. This is how this acne-fighting ingredient helps to get rid of pimples very fast.

In addition, Zinc PCA possess commendable antioxidant properties that help fight free radicals in acne wound meanwhile boosting the skin healing.

2. Reduces sebum production

Know that excessive sebum production makes skin greasy and oily, making skin attract more dirt and grime. It clogs your pores giving favorable environment for acne to grow. Research study has concluded that Zinc PCA has sebostatic properties . It prevents excess sebum production by inhibiting the activity of 5 alpha-reductase enzymes (which are responsible for sebum production).

3. Calms acne inflammation

Zinc PCA possesses wonderful anti-inflammatory properties that help to relieve and ease the pain associated with acne. This ingredient has also been proven to be quite effective to reduce inflammation in several other skin problems too, like eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis, etc.

4. Speeds up wound healing

Acne and breakouts leads to acne scars, weary, and ruptured skin barrier etc. Zinc PCA has the ability to soothe skin with its gentle effect. Reach has shown the efficacy of Zinc acting as a catalyst in wound recovery. It helps heal acne wounds and calms skin.

5. Prevents skin aging

A research study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science evaluated the efficacy of Zinc PCA in preventing collagen degradation.

Zinc PCA has multi-faceted benefits for skin. It exerts a protective effect against UV damage in the epidermis layer of your skin, protecting skin against the damaging effects of sun.
