Polyquaternium-1,also named as Polidronium Chloride,PQ-1,is a detergent-type preservative derived from BAK.It’s formulated in the mid of 1980s by Alcon as a preservative for contact lens storage solutions.Nowadays,it is being increasingly used as a presverative in ophthalmic drops for glaucoma, artificial tear solutions and top cosmetic formuations.
